Flowchart Maker

Start from a flowchart template with the right shapes.

yes no Order received In stock? Pick and pack Raise back-order Ship to customer Notify customer Done

Try it: Adapt the order approval template

  1. Start with the Order received and In stock? example.
  2. Change the decision to Payment received? and rename both outcomes.
  3. Follow each Yes and No connector from the decision to an ending.

Every decision should have labelled outcomes. The editor does not validate business logic for you.

About Flowchart Maker

A flowchart earns its place when a process has branches. Prose describing three conditional paths is far harder to follow than a picture of them.

Opens the studio with a flowchart stencil ready.

How Flowchart Maker works in your browser

The stencil carries the standard flowchart vocabulary — terminators for start and end, rectangles for processes, diamonds for decisions, parallelograms for input and output. Those shapes are a convention readers already know, which is what makes a flowchart readable without a legend.

Connectors stay attached to their shapes and follow them when they move, so adding a step to the middle of a chart does not mean redrawing everything after it.

A decision diamond should have every branch labelled. An unlabelled fork is the most common flaw in a hand-drawn flowchart and the one that makes readers guess.

When to use it

  • Documenting an approval process with its exception paths.
  • Mapping a customer journey including where it fails.
  • Explaining an algorithm or a decision rule to non-technical colleagues.
  • Writing down an internal procedure that has only ever existed in someone’s head.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from Diagram Studio?

It is Diagram Studio opened with a flowchart stencil and a starter chart already loaded, so you begin by rewriting something rather than facing an empty canvas.

Which shapes are included?

The conventional flowchart set — terminators, processes, decisions, inputs and connectors — so the diagram reads correctly to anyone who knows the notation.

How do I keep it tidy?

Snap-to-grid keeps boxes aligned as you place them, which does more for legibility than any amount of manual nudging.
