About Text & Log Viewer
A plain reader for text, log and config files, with a wrap toggle, a search box that counts matching lines, and copy. Files are read as UTF-8 and the first 20,000 lines are displayed.
Log files are the ones that defeat ordinary editors: hundreds of megabytes, one line at a time, and an editor that tries to load the whole thing at once.
A virtualised reader with line numbers, wrap toggle and encoding detection.

How Text & Log Viewer works in your browser
The file is read into memory and shown line by line, and the display stops at 20,000 lines with a notice, which keeps the page from freezing while it builds an element for every line of a huge log.
The text is decoded as UTF-8, which is what almost every modern tool writes. There is no encoding detection: a file in UTF-16 or a legacy code page shows replacement characters wherever it contains non-English text, and the fix is to resave it as UTF-8.
Line numbers come from the file’s own line breaks, and the wrap toggle changes only display — turning wrapping off is usually right for logs, where the important content sits at the end of long lines.
When to use it
Opening a log file too large for a text editor to load. Reading a data dump or export without an application reformatting it. Checking the encoding of a file that displays as gibberish elsewhere. Reading a log containing production data on your own machine rather than uploading it.
Frequently asked questions
Can it open a log file that is hundreds of megabytes?
It will open, but only the first 20,000 lines are displayed and the whole file is held in memory, so a log of hundreds of megabytes is better split first.
Does it handle different text encodings?
Files are read as UTF-8. A file saved in another encoding, such as UTF-16 or Windows-1252, can show replacement characters; resave it as UTF-8 first.
Can I turn off line wrapping?
Yes. Wrapping is a toggle, which matters for logs and config files where a single long line is easier to read unwrapped.
