About Image Converter
Batch-convert images between PNG, JPEG, WebP and AVIF with quality, maximum dimension and background-fill controls. Everything is encoded by your browser’s own codecs, so nothing is uploaded.
Format conversion is simple work that most sites make you upload a photograph for. Browsers have contained a complete set of image codecs for years, because displaying images is what they do.

How Image Converter works in your browser
Conversion goes through the browser’s own codecs. The image is decoded into an ImageBitmap, drawn to a canvas, and re-encoded in the format you chose — the same code path the browser uses to display any image on any page, which is why this works offline and why nothing is uploaded.
Quality applies to the lossy formats, JPEG and WebP, and is a genuine trade rather than a slider to leave at maximum. Around 80 to 85 per cent is the usual sweet spot for photographs; above 95 the file grows quickly for almost no visible gain.
Two limits follow from how the formats work. Converting to JPEG discards transparency, because JPEG has no alpha channel — a transparent background becomes solid. And converting a JPEG to PNG does not restore detail the JPEG already discarded; it stores the degraded image losslessly. Always convert from the best original you have, never from a copy that has already been through the process.
When to use it
Converting screenshots to WebP to cut their size before putting them on a web page. Producing a JPEG for a form or portal that rejects PNG uploads. Getting a format an older application will accept. Converting photographs of people, documents or private places, where the picture and its embedded location data should not be handed to a website.

Frequently asked questions
Which formats can I convert between?
PNG, JPEG, WebP and AVIF, in any combination, with control over quality, maximum dimension and background fill for images that lose transparency.
Can I convert a whole folder at once?
Yes, it is a batch tool. Settings apply to every file in the batch, and each result can be downloaded separately or together.
Is the encoding done by a server?
No. Your browser's own image codecs do the work, which is why nothing is uploaded and why speed depends on your device.
