Merge PDF

Combine several PDFs into one, in any order.

Try it: Combine pages and check the limitations

Download the bookmarked PDF

  1. Add the sample PDF twice to make a four-page document.
  2. Merge and check that the two source pages repeat in the selected order.
  3. Open the result in a PDF viewer and inspect its bookmark panel.

Page content and page sizes are copied. The sample has an Overview bookmark, but the merged result does not transfer it. Interactive forms and existing digital signatures are also not preserved.

About Merge PDF

Combine PDFs in your chosen order without uploading them. Page sizes and visual quality are preserved. Document bookmarks and interactive forms are not transferred.

Combining PDFs is the most common thing anyone needs to do to a PDF, and the usual route is to hand a stack of documents to a website that keeps them for an hour. That is a poor trade for something a browser can do on its own.

Order the files, reorder them if you got it wrong, and produce a single document. Nothing is queued behind other people’s jobs, because there is no queue and no server.

  • Processed on your deviceEverything you open or type here is handled by this page and never uploaded anywhere.
  • No queue, no limitsNothing waits on a server, so the only limit is your own hardware.
  • No account neededNo sign-up and no email address required.

How Merge PDF works in your browser

Merging runs on pdf-lib. Each source document is parsed in this tab, and its pages are copied into a new document rather than re-rendered — the page objects, their fonts and their images move across unchanged.

That copy-rather-than-rebuild approach is what preserves quality. Text stays selectable and searchable because it is still text, vector graphics stay vector, and images keep their original encoding at their original resolution. A merged file is normally close to the sum of its inputs in size, which is the honest result of nothing having been thrown away.

Pages of different sizes stay at their own sizes. A merged document can legitimately contain A4 and Letter pages together; nothing is scaled to match, because scaling would change every measurement on the page.

When to use it

  • Assembling a single PDF from a signed contract, its annexes and a scanned identity page — the case where uploading is exactly what you want to avoid.
  • Putting a set of scanned receipts into one file before submitting an expense claim.
  • Combining chapters written separately into one document for review.
  • Merging a cover letter with a CV so an application arrives as one attachment rather than three.

Is it safe to use online PDF converters? Most online converters upload a copy of your document to a server you know nothing about. Frequently asked questions

Is there a limit on how many PDFs I can merge?

There is no artificial limit. Because the merge happens in your browser, the only constraint is the memory available to the tab.

Will merging change the quality of my pages?

Pages are copied without rasterising them, so existing text stays selectable and images are not re-encoded. The PDF is rewritten, so the file bytes change. Document bookmarks, interactive form structure and digital signatures are not preserved.
