Extract Images from Word

Pull every embedded picture out of a .docx.

About Extract Images from Word

Lists every image stored inside a Word document with its dimensions, format and size. Download any single image at full original quality, or grab all of them as a ZIP.

The pictures in a Word document are complete files sitting inside it. Screenshotting them loses resolution for no reason — the originals are right there.

List every image with its dimensions, format and size, and download what you want.

How Extract Images from Word works in your browser

A .docx is a ZIP archive. JSZip opens it in this tab and reads the media folder directly, which is where Word stores every embedded picture as the file it originally was — a PNG stays a PNG at its original pixel dimensions, a JPEG keeps its original encoding.

That means extraction is lossless and gives you better images than the document displays. Word often shows a picture scaled down to fit the page while storing the full-resolution original, so the extracted file is frequently larger and sharper than what you can see.

Because the archive is read directly rather than through a document renderer, images that are not visible in the document — a picture behind a text box, or one left on a page that was deleted — are listed too.

When to use it

  • Recovering photographs from a document when the originals have been lost.
  • Pulling diagrams out of a report to reuse in a presentation.
  • Getting a logo at full resolution from a letterhead template.
  • Checking what images a document is carrying before sending it, including ones you cannot see.

Frequently asked questions

Are images extracted at full quality?

Yes. The original bytes stored inside the document are pulled out untouched, so you get exactly what was embedded rather than a re-encoded copy.

Can I get them all at once?

Yes. Download any single image, or take the whole set as a ZIP when a document contains dozens.

Will it find images I cannot see?

It lists everything stored in the file, which sometimes includes cropped-away regions or images left behind on a deleted page.
