About Text to PDF

Convert a .txt or log file into a PDF with a monospaced or proportional face, configurable page size, line wrapping and optional line numbers — useful for archiving logs and code listings.

Plain text is the most portable format there is and the least presentable. Sending a log or a note as a .txt often means it arrives unreadable.

Convert with a proper page, a chosen typeface and real pagination.

  • Processed on your deviceEverything you open or type here is handled by this page and never uploaded anywhere.
  • No queue, no limitsNothing waits on a server, so the only limit is your own hardware.
  • No account neededNo sign-up and no email address required.

How Text to PDF works in your browser

The text is laid onto pages by the PDF writer with the face, size and margins you pick. A monospaced face preserves column alignment, which matters for logs, tables of figures and anything that was formatted with spaces; a proportional face reads better for prose.

Long lines are wrapped rather than truncated, and the wrap point is calculated from the actual glyph widths of the chosen font, so nothing runs off the edge of the page.

Encoding is detected from the bytes before conversion. Getting this wrong is what turns accented characters into replacement symbols, and a byte-order mark or a scan for valid UTF-8 sequences settles it.

When to use it

  • Attaching a log file to a report or a ticket in a form people will actually read.
  • Printing a plain-text document with sensible margins and page numbers.
  • Archiving notes or configuration in a fixed, portable format.
  • Filing a text record where the recipient requires a PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Can I keep code and logs aligned?

Yes. Choose a monospaced face so columns in a log or an indented code listing line up exactly as they do in the source file.

Can I add line numbers?

Yes, optionally — useful when the PDF will be referred to in a review or an audit and people need to cite a specific line.

What happens to very long lines?

They wrap to the page width, always; there is no setting to let a long line run off the page. A smaller font size or a larger page fits more characters on each line.
